These Denominations Are Always Hiring for Youth Pastor Jobs

Youth pastor jobs are among the most important positions in our society today.  Our youth are not getting the time and attention they need at home.  Parents are not teaching right from wrong anymore, so kids will fall for anything.  There is a strategic time in every man and woman’s life when they will decide what they believe.  Most teenagers have already decided if they are living for the Lord or for the world by the time they turn 18.
Most of the major denominations have youth pastor jobs available, but it is hard to know what all of the different denominations believe.  Before you accept a position with any denomination, you should understand what they believe on the major fundamental beliefs.

Baptist Denomination
The Baptist church is one of the largest denominations in North America today.  They have been more visible then most denominations in politics.  They lean toward conservative values on most issues.  They do not believe that women can serve in the pulpit, and most churches won’t hire women as pastors or youth pastors.  The Baptist denomination believes in once saved always saved philosophy.  This means they believe you cannot lose your salvation once you become a Christian.

They do not believe in speaking in tongues.  They have strict values about alcohol too.  They don’t believe that Christians should drink alcohol for any reason.  Music in Baptist churches tends to be very conservative in older churches, but newer denominations sing praise and worship songs in Sunday morning services.  There are many Baptist youth pastor jobs available every year.

Assemblies of God Denomination
The Assemblies of God churches in North America are somewhat similar to the Baptist denomination.  This denomination is one of the fastest growing denominations in North America today.  They believe that speaking in tongues is for today, and they believe that speaking in tongues is the first evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Assemblies of God churches sometimes have woman pastors.  They do believe it is possible for a Christian to lose their salvation if they fall away from the Lord.  Drinking in moderation is not a big issue for members in Assemblies of God churches.  Officially, they have taken a neutral position on most issues related to political positions.  Most churches sing modern day praise and worship songs, but older denominations may sing hymns too.   Hillsong music was birthed out of an Assemblies of God church, and today Hillsong churches are sprouting up all over the world.  Assemblies of God youthpastor jobs are available all over North America and around the world.

Nazarene Denomination
Nazarene youth pastor jobs are very similar to the Baptist denomination.  They don’t believe in once saved always saved philosophy as many Baptists believe.  They don’t believe it is ever okay to drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes.  A woman can be a pastor in the Nazarene denomination.  Nazarines don’t believe speaking in tongues is necessary to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Methodist Denomination
The Methodist denomination has traditionally been more liberal than many other denominations in the church today.  There are many female pastors in the Methodist church.  They take liberal positions on some political issues.  The church has publically stated that they welcome people of all sexual orientations.  They don’t believe in gay marriage, but open homosexuals can become members in a Methodist church.

Methodist churches sing hymns and worship songs in Sunday morning services.  They tend to be more conservative in their Sunday morning services than Assemblies of God denominations or Baptist churches.
These are just some of the main denominations that post youth pastor jobs regularly.  Before you accept a youth pastor position, make sure you have a chance to visit the church on a Sunday morning first.  Churches within a denomination may be a lot different, so don’t assume a church in the same denomination as your home church is just like your home church.  If none of the churches posting youth pastor jobs are of interest to you, then you should continue to check back with the various job sites, as new youth pastor jobs open regularly.

Pastor Finder Strategies You Should Use Today

When churches conduct a pastor finder search, they often make many mistakes as they try to find the perfect preacher for their congregation. I have seen churches that go for a year or longer without a senior pastor, and this can really damage a church congregation. Church committees are great for electing new pastors for a congregation, but they can also needlessly prolong the process of selecting a new minister.

These are the five mistakes many churches make when searching for a new minister.

1. They don’t groom the current youth pastor for the senior pastor position.

Churches often hire youth pastors to lead the youth ministry, but they don’t think about the future of the church. The average tenure of a youth pastor is less than two years, so it is easy to understand why most churches don’t hire a youth minister with the future in mind.

George Barna, the leading expert on Christian statistics, has stated that the average tenure of a senior pastor is only four years. When the church hires a new youth pastor, it is reasonable to assume that the youth pastor could be promoted to the senior pastor position. Even though this is an uncomfortable conversation, you should consider asking the senior pastor if he feels he will be in his position for a long time. If the senior pastor is near retirement age or might leave in a few years, then the youth pastor should be hired with the possibility that they could succeed the senior pastor.

2. They take too long to find a pastor.

This is very common in many churches. Once you know that a pastor is leaving, the search for a new minister should begin immediately. Don’t wait for the senior pastor to leave. The church should immediately form a committee to lead the search for the next senior pastor.

3. Churches assume the existing associate pastor or youth pastor is the next senior pastor.

It is very easy to assume that one of the existing pastors on staff should be the next senior pastor. While this is often what happens in larger congregations, the church should consider other candidates too. The existing pastors on staff should assume that other outside candidates may be considered for the senior pastor position.

It is also possible that the associate pastor or youth pastor is not interested in the senior pastor position. The search committee should clearly communicate to the existing pastors on staff that they should not feel obligated or forced into the senior pastor position. You want someone who is clearly called to the pulpit, and that person might be outside the congregation.

4. They don’t conduct a background check with the leading candidates.

Never assume that an outside candidate who has worked in churches forever automatically has a clean record! Complete a thorough background check before hiring a new minister.

5. They don’t advertise the position.

There are numerous job sites where you can post open positions. Some of these sites even specialize in jobs for Christians and jobs for churches. Any reasonable search for a new pastor should include a job posting where you allow other pastors looking for a congregation to apply for the vacant pastor position. When you post a position opening on a targeted website for pastors, it is not uncommon to have hundreds of applicants apply for the job.

These are just some of the pastor finder mistakes many churches make when looking for a new pastor. Above all else, the church needs to pray and seek the Lord’s will when looking for a new minister. If the congregation is truly praying and listening to God’s voice regarding the next senior pastor of your church, then you will be able to come to an agreement on the right person to lead the church body.

Youth Pastor Jobs and Landing Careers in the Ministry

Have you ever wondered how people find youth pastor jobs?  Most youth ministers don’t just fall into these careers.  There are many steps that occur before getting involved in full-time ministry.  If you have a heart for youth, then going full time into ministry may be the right career path for you.  If you feel that the Lord has called you into ministry, there are several things you can start doing today to land a job with a church.

The first step is the most important step, and everything begins with prayer.  If you feel that the Lord is leading you into a ministry career, ask God to guide your path and lead your steps.  Jeremiah 29:11 states “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  It is clear that the Lord has plans for everyone, and your plan may be to serve the Lord in youth ministry.

It has been my own experience that God reveals his plan for you in steps.  He does not give you the entire plan for your life in one prayer.  If you knew everything God was going to do in your life for the next 20 years, you would probably be overwhelmed with everything you’ll have to do to get to where you are going.  It is not healthy to know your entire future right away, so God reveals his plan for your life in steps.  You may be looking for youth pastor jobs now, but that might not be what God wants you to do at this time in your life.
If you feel God is calling you to apply for youth pastor jobs, you should start by volunteering for the youth group at your local church.  Work with your local pastor to see if you really like working with youth.  This is going to show you if you really like working with teenagers.  You may find that you love it, or you may find that this is not the best career path for you.

Your age plays a role in youth pastor jobs too.  While churches can’t technically discriminate against people due to their age, the reality is that most youth directors are younger.  This is because teenagers have a lot of energy.  This is also because youth relate to younger people better than they relate to older people.  This is not always true, but someone who is 50 years old will have a harder time getting a youth minister position than someone who is 25 years old.  Your personality, interests, and other factors also make a big difference in how well you relate to youth.

Once you have volunteered for other youth ministries for a period of time, you will have a better chance at getting a job working with youth in a church.  Churches will be able to see that you are serious about youth ministry, and they know that you already have volunteer experience in the ministry.

There are many youth pastor jobs listed all the time on Christian job sites.  If you have a resume that stands out from other people because of your experience in the industry, you will have a good chance to land a job working in full time ministry.

Christian Sales Jobs - Tips for Job Applicants and Employers

Many Christians look for Christian sales jobs every year. It seems like there are not any honest people left working in sales, but there are still Christians who work in sales! If you are a Christian running a small business, you may be looking for a Christian who has persuasive sales skills that will translate into revenue for your company. Despite all of the corrupt sales practices that many organizations follow, you can still find Christians who will represent your company with honor and integrity.

If you are serious about searching for Christian sales jobs, you have to be creative in your job search. You want to spend some time trying to decide what you want to sell. What are some products or services that you would enjoy selling? Do you want to sell to residential homeowners, or do you want to sell to businesses? Many Christian jobs require you sell to Christian ministries, churches, and other organizations. While you do not have to be a Christian to work at a Christian company, it will be easier to relate to Christians if you are a Christian.

If you want to work with a Christian organization, you should start by networking with people within the church. Let people know that you are looking for a new sales job. Talk about your pursuit of a new sales job every Sunday at church. Eventually, someone who is a recruiting manager or manager may be able to help you land a new career. If you have a natural sales personality, then you probably already know a lot of people at your church. Most people get a job because of who they know. They don’t get a job because of their spectacular resume or superior sales experience.

Apply for Christian sales jobs with Christian companies directly on their website. Contact them on the phone or through email, or visit the company in person if you can. You need to set yourself apart when you are applying for a sales job, as there are normally hundreds of people who apply for one sales position.

If you are a small business owner looking for a Christian sales representative, you must legally consider candidates that are not Christians. It is illegal to discriminate against job candidates based solely on religious grounds. If you want to attract Christians to your open sales position, then you should advertise your job on Christian websites. There are many websites where you can advertise a job where most of the candidates are Christians. You can also inquire around your church for people who are looking for a new job. There are many ways you can hire people for Christian sales jobs.

Secret Careers in Ministry You Can Pursue Today

When most people first consider careers in ministry, they mainly think about jobs as a pastor. There are many other positions you can pursue in the ministry besides being the head pastor of a church. The lead pastor and the youth pastor get all of the glory in a congregation, but churches hire people for many other positions in a church too. A small church may only have one person on staff, but churches with several hundred or several thousand members may hire people for a wide variety of positions.

If you don’t want to be a lead pastor, but you still want a career in the ministry, here are some jobs you can pursue today.

Ministry Coordinators or Associate Pastors

Large churches will hire pastors for a wide variety of roles. They may hire people who can lead various ministries at church. They may need someone who can head up the children’s ministry. Some congregations even hire people that can lead small group ministry, Sunday School classes, and various other ministries throughout the church.

Church Administrator

The primary purpose of a church is to lead the lost to Christ, but there is a business aspect to the church too. You need someone who understands money to handle all of the finances of the church body. This will free up your pastor to focus on the ministry of the church instead of the finances of the congregation. This is one of best paying careers in ministry you can get if you don’t want to be a pastor of a church.

Grounds Keeper or Administrative Duties

Larger buildings need regular maintenance. You need someone in the church who can cut the grass or hire a handyman to fix the issues in the building. You do not want your pastor to have to worry about all of these things when he is serving the community. In a small church, the pastor may do everything, but in larger congregations, there is a need for this position.

Music Directors

Music directors are responsible for the worship and music in the church services. They are often responsible for directing the choir too. Churches with thousands of people need people who can direct the congregation in worship, and this can be a full-time job. Most churches hire this person to work in a part-time capacity.

There are many careers in ministry you can pursue even if you don’t want to be a senior pastor. You should not pursue a career in ministry if you want to make a lot of money, but a career in serving the Lord is much more fulfilling than anything else you can do!
